The dance-performative work is based on a story based on a dancer’s personal experience during the funeral of a friend: at the crematorium she was offered the opportunity to swallow a piece of the deceased’s bones and ashes. The central element of the performance is a stone, which symbolically embodies the form of the friend’s bone and with which the dancer has a deep, non-verbal dialogue. On stage, the dancer interacts with the stone through physical movements, gestures and symbolic acts such as offering a glass of water. This non-verbal conversation explores the possibilities of the Moon Princess being born in a bamboo trunk on Earth. Several born men have tried to win her over and propose to her. But it was her destiny to go back home… Nori’s unique version of the legendary Japanese story. KAGUYA is followed by its shining little pieces – like different kinds of gems in the night forest… Then Nori will also talk about his latest projects from around the world, with a projection of photographs. A frank discussion and questions from the audience are also expected!
