Kvaskova is an indie-electronic songwriter who employs an emotive voice, personal lyrics in Ruthenian and Slovak, and a minimal yet evocative sound – the result of her strong crossover across music, theatre, and audiobooks. Kvaskova comes three years after her debut (Paper Dragon, 2020) with her second studio album entitled Odmmäk. The new album brings nine emotionally charged electronic compositions from the creative workshop of Zdena Kvaskova. The author’s lyrics have a strong narrative value, they often weave into the living and together with the music they create a wonderfully chilling atmosphere, which does not lack Ruthenian mysticism and magic, subtle melancholy and nostalgia typical for the artist’s birthplace – northeastern Slovakia. The guitarist Jaro Ďurček collaborated with the author on the album. Under the mix and master is the well-known sound designer and producer Adam Matej. The cover was designed by Lena Luga using the theme from the installation Trees Have Eyes by painter Michal Nagypal and graphically designed by Martin Toldy. The album was composed, vocalised, sung and produced by Zdena on the train between Bratislava and Prešov and back, also in her home studio during the last two years.
