A guy on maternity leave – that’s what you could call the story of a bar musician whose wife decided to build her own career and entrusted him with the upbringing of their child. The novella by the cult Czech author Petr Šabach has been dramatised and adapted to suit the main and only actor Ondřej Daniš, who has added his own music to the play. The author of the novel Petr Šabach is known for a number of humorous books, several of which have been the basis for successful films such as Pelíšky, Šakalí léta, Pupendo, U me good and others. He chose the title Wandering of a Sea Horse for his dad’s notes at home. He was inspired by a fact from the animal kingdom, where the seahorse represents a rarity in reproduction – it is the male that is pregnant, not the female. With his own humour, the author describes the travails of a man, a bar musician, who finds himself a stay-at-home mother and has to take care of his young son while his wife pursues her career.
